Home to some of the last remaining wild land in the United States, Montana is renowned for its outdoor adventures. Learn to fly fish, take a horseback riding jaunt across Montana fields, then enjoy whitewater rafting on the Gallatin River. You’ll safari to Yellowstone National Park to see the “big game” and unique ecosystem, relive history as you visit the Missouri River headwaters made famous by Lewis and Clark, take a trip through time to historic gold rush towns of the 19th century, and experience a Western rodeo and fireworks on the 4th of July! Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Arrive into Bozeman and transfer by chauffeured stretch limousine to the 320 Guest Ranch, just south of Big Sky. After a light dinner, meet your guide for trip orientation and group introductions.
Day 2: Hiking, Hayride, and Western Barbecue Get up early and watch the horses gallop in from their overnight pasture. After a hearty buffet breakfast, begin the week with a short hike, stopping to view heart-stopping panoramas with a picnic lunch along the way. Tonight you’ll enjoy a Western hayride and barbecue dinner.
Day 3: Yellowstone National Park Wildlife Safari and Geology Exploration A full day in Yellowstone National Park on a wildlife safari and geology exploration. Walk by some of Yellowstone’s famous hot pools, fumaroles, and mud pots. Look for bison, moose, elk, wolves, deer, or even a grizzly bear. Picnic at Old Faithful geyser and shop till you drop in West Yellowstone.
Day 4: Whitewater Rafting and Horseback Riding Morning whitewater rafting on the Gallatin River. Each boat has a raft guide. Let’s go, team! Afternoon horseback riding in the mountains with Montana wranglers, to enjoy pristine and awesome scenery from the saddle!
Day 5: Hike and Optional Fly Fishing or Horseback Riding and Fireworks Happy 4th of July! Morning hike into the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park followed by an afternoon choice of optional fly fishing one of Montana’s famous blue-ribbon trout streams or enjoying a second optional horseback ride. Have a special holiday dinner at the ranch, followed by a Western rodeo and a “Big Sky” 4th of July fireworks celebration.
Day 6: Historic Towns and the Headwaters of the Missouri River Travel to Virginia City and the Old West, an open-air museum of the early mining history and a national historic landmark. Then on to the Headwaters of the Missouri River in Three Forks to re-live a small part of “America’s Greatest Adventure”, the Lewis and Clark “Corps of Discovery” expedition of the early 19th century.
Tonight’s fun Farewell Dinner is at AdventureWomen’s headquarters in the beautiful Bridger Mountains, with an overnight at the Comfort Inn.
Day 7: Departure Depart or stay longer to explore the town of Bozeman, affectionately known as “a small town in big britches”.
