MARIAH Women's Travel began 1982 when co-owner Donna Hunter turned her passion for whitewater rafting into a business. Co-owner Nancy Byrnes joined MARIAH in 1988, and her involvement comes from a long-lasting love of outdoor activities. Early in 2001, Donna and Nancy did some creative rearranging of their business relationship. Donna is now sole owner of Mariah Wilderness Expeditions, and Nancy is sole owner of Mariah Costa Rica.
Since 1982, MARIAH has developed a Gold Seal reputation as a safety-conscious, top-quality rafting and adventure travel company; they are one of the largest and the only women-owned whitewater rafting company in California.
Donna is the Expert in Women’s Adventure Travel. She leads the way at combining active wilderness adventures with exploring the natural and cultural environments of unique international destinations in the safe and secure company of other women!
Donna’s 22 years in the Whitewater Rafting and Adventure Travel business, her continued love for excitement and adventure, her curiosity about other cultures, and her excellent professional reputation has attracted a group of very professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, high quality staff, both in the field and in the office. Her staff cares for your safety and enjoyment and can show you the way to one of the most memorable vacations you'll ever have.
Mariah’s Women's Adventures are of varying lengths from one day to two or three weeks. Levels of difficulty and types of activities range from easy to expert whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, hiking Machu Picchu and exploring jungles in third-world countries; to visiting antiquities in Greece, Peru and Italy; to playing at their all-inclusive, first-class resort in Fiji.
