Overview

The Temagami Outfitting Company is located in the village of Temagami, in the True North of Northern Ontario Canada. The company was established nearly a century ago and is the only outfitter with its main base in town. The company’s first owner, Arthur Stevens, came to Temagami in 1905 and ran the business until 1945. Early outfitting records show green 16-foot cedar canvas canoes renting for $1.00. Other gear, including tents, rented for just pennies a day. Over the years, it has become a rendezvous point for canoeists and adventurers paddling through the region, many of whom have traveled from all over the world to experience this pristine wilderness.

Today Dean Pearson and his family with over 35 years of canoeing and guiding experience in the Temagami region own and operate The Temagami Outfitting Company.

Philosophy
Dedicated to serving people and the environment, the Temagami Outfitting Company offers wilderness vacation packages, programs, guided trips, and instruction for individuals, friends and families. Immerse yourself in the wonders of Temagami and bring new energy and inspiration to your life on one of Temagami’s wilderness adventures for women only. Enjoy beautiful landscapes, outstanding sunsets, great food and fun with friends. No prior experience is required to take a break from the routine of your everyday life. Canoe and kayak journeys are filled with enriching experiences and unforgettable memories.

Temagami has over 1000 canoe routes to choose from, offering some of the world's best paddling experiences for canoe enthusiasts and adventurers. Ancient canoe routes and portage trails provide the only access and means of travel through this extraordinary wilderness backcountry. Imagine packing all that you need into a canoe and traveling in the fashion of the ancient Anishnawbeg and French Voyagers, paddling and portaging, seeing and discovering, sleeping beneath the stars and connecting to the land as they once did. Each day presents itself with new waters and new campsites, a rhythm that has remained unchanged for centuries.

Temagami’s experienced outfitters and guide staff have paddled and portaged extensively throughout this magical region and bring energy and expertise, along with a cheerful attitude and desire to bring you a world-class adventure. Their philosophy originates from a deep respect for this land. Temagami is committed to quality and integrity, emphasizing safety, and low impact, no trace environmental responsibility.

The Temagami Outfitting Company is home to a competitively priced retail expedition store stocked with a select line of fantastic equipment and trademark clothing. Their high performance gear, outerwear, and footwear, includes product lines from Marmot, Sierra Designs, Columbia, Eureka, MSR, Katadyn and Keen. Temagami offers Souris River canoes and carry a complete inventory of paddling gear and camping equipment - tents, stoves, packs, water purifiers, etc.

Island Cabin
Enjoy privacy, comfort and relaxation, at an island cabin located 15 miles from town on the beautiful northeast arm of Lake Temagami. Take a refreshing swim, or put your feet up and enjoy a good book. Explore the small uninhabited islands in the bay behind the cabin or set out on a day trip to discover hidden side lakes and waterways. These secluded areas offer great fishing and plenty of opportunities for outstanding landscape and wildlife photography.

The main cabin has a fireplace, wood stove, and beautiful furnishings including a full-size double bed. Temagami has a newly remodeled kitchen with French doors that lead out to the back deck where you can enjoy the sunrise. The screened in porch is perfect for viewing evening sunsets. There is a full bath with hot and cold running water and a flush toilet. The dock has a swim ladder and plenty of room to tie off your boat. In addition, Temagami has constructed a cozy sleep cabin with a bunk bed and a double sleeper couch. Because there is no electric or hydro on the northeast arm of the lake, they have a generator to run the electrical necessities that you will need during your stay. There are push button starters in the main and sleep cabin for your convenience.
